Administration - 2003/2004

The Legal Committee led by Leigh Masel, and ably supported by Phil Bowley, undertook a transformation of the Club's Statement of Rules and By-Laws to comply with the requirements of the Associations Incorporation Act.  This was an extensive task very well handled and has set a benchmark for the incorporation process for other Rotary Clubs.

John Dawson continued to provide expert advice to the Club's office-bearers on insurance matters.  Grahme Bond has agreed to join this committee for 2004-05.  There is a dearth of representation from the insurance industry in the Club membership so please consider any potential member nominees in this broad category.

The archives of the Club remained under the expert management of John Kendall.  John is looking to appoint a deputy for the coming year.  A task for next year will be to update the Club's records on microfiche and/or more modern technology.  The publication last year of Owen Parnaby's thorough history of our Club has brought the History Committee's role to a close for the foreseeable future.

Alan Threader and his team maintained their usual watchful eye over Rotary Park.  Alan is stepping down after a very long period chairing this Committee.  It is appropriate that his service has been recognised as a Paul Harris Fellow.  Ian Ferguson will become chairman in 2004-05.  It is recommended that next year, the Governor be invited to plant a tree at an appropriate time in the year to commemorate the centenary of Rotary.

David Richards will continue as the Administration Director and proposes having further discussions with the Secretary about the need for, and merits, of drawing together existing resources in the area of administration/operations manual/s to produce a consolidated and updated version in the coming year.
