R.I. President Elect Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar Visits Rotary Park
On 23rd November 2004, Rotary International President-Elect Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar visited Rotary Park where a tree was dedicated in his name.
President-Elect Carl-Wilhelm responded to the dedication with humor and humility at joining 20 other R.I. Presidents who have visited the Park to plant or dedicate trees.
He related a story of an ancient piece of silent B&W film footage that he had unearthed in his Club's archives (as Secretary of Rotary Club of Goteborg, Sweden in only his second year as a Rotarian!!), showing Paul Harris planting a tree in his home club's city in the 1930's. On viewing that film, he would never have dreamed that he would have a tree dedicated in his name in a park on the other side of the world where Paul Harris had also planted a tree.
The ceremony concluded with R.I. President Elect Carl-Wilhelm inspecting other trees and gratiously posing for photographs on the Paul Harris - Angus S Mitchell marble seat.
