A major effort of the International Committee this year has been the start of a three year project for the eradication of Leprosy in Cambodia. This has been at a cost of US$20,000 for the first year, assisted by a District Simplified Grant of AU$12,500 from D9800 and several other donations including Tattersalls, several sister clubs and a major donation from the member of the public.Keith Brierley has been a key mover with this Program, ably assisted by colleagues such as George Tippett, who made two visits to Cambodia this year.Once PolioPlus achieves its aim of eradicating polio world-wide, and if the leprosy project in Cambodia proceeds as expected, it is possible that Leprosy Eradication could be adopted by The Rotary Foundation as a feasible world-wide project.
