Group Study Exchange 2006/2007
Four young adults are being sought to join a goodwill exchange to the Netherlands.
The Rotary Club of Melbourne is seeking outstanding professionals to visit the Netherlands in April 2007 as part of the District 9800 Group Study Exchange program of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
Through the program, teams of young professionals from two different countries exchange visits. For six weeks, team members experience the way of life, customs, and vocational practices of another country, while sharing information about their homeland. The purpose of the Group Study Exchange program is to promote international understanding and goodwill through personal connection.
While abroad, team members stay in Rotarians' homes and have the opportunity to meet their professional counterparts. They also give presentations to Rotary clubs and other groups about their home country.
The Rotary Foundation pays for round-trip airfare, and Rotary club members in the host country provide meals, lodging and group travel in their district. Team members pay for personal and incidental expenses. Young adults between the ages of 25 and 40 who are interested in applying should be employed full-time in a business or profession. Applicants must live or be employed in greater Melbourne.

Applications should reach the Rotary Club no later than 15th September, 2006.
Additional Information For Team Members:
The exchange is with District 1580 in the Netherlands and is approximately for the period 28th April 2007 to 2nd June 2007. If selected the team member must be available for the entire period.
The Team member must be employed full time in a vocation that they intend to remain in upon their return from the GSE.
The Team member must live or work in the precinct of District 9800.
The Team member cannot be the lineal descendant (son/daughter or grandson/daughter) of a current Rotarian, or a person who has been a Rotarian within the last 36 months of the exchange.
The Team member must be in the age range of 25 to 40 years of age.
If selected, the team member must be available to meet regularly with the team leader in preparation for the GSE.
If selected, the team member must assure us that they will accept and comply with all reasonable directions of the team leader.
Any health related problems that could adversely affect the tour must be declared.
Upon return from the exchange, team members will be expected to make team and individual presentations on their experiences to local Rotary clubs. The team member must return home from the GSE in time to participate in the Welcome Home presentation on 12th June 2007.
