Seniors Award - 2005/2006
The Seniors Award 2005/2006 was awarded to Mario Joseph (Joe) Pavone.
The Citation accompnying the Award reads as follows:
Mario Joseph (Joe) Pavone, is a past member of the Rotary Club of Heidelberg North, he was President of that Club for 'Rotary year 1976/77 and is a Paul Harris Fellow.
Joe has given forty-four years of service to Healthcare Administration in public and church related organizations. During the course of this time, he he held the position of Chief Executive Officer Southern Cross Victoria Aged Care and Executive Director of the Australian Catholic Health Care Association. He also performed important roles in accounting, architectural work and administration in both the public and private hospital sectors. He remains active in the field and is currently Deputy Chairman of Southern Cross Care Victoria.
Mr. Pavone's other involvements have included performance of the roles of Director on the Board of the Development Australia Fund, Committee Member of Catholic Social Services Victoria, Director of Volunteers of Banyule, Chairman of the Aged Care Advisory Board of the Salvation Army Southern Territory, Treasurer of Aged Care Australia, and President of Aged Care Victoria. He has served on the Mercy Hospice Board for twelve years and is a Life Member of the Broadmeadows Community Health Centre.
Joe Pavone has a proud history of service to the community extending over many years. The Rotary Club of Melbourne considers him to he a most worthy recipient of its Senior Citizen's Award. His application of the principle of "Service Above Self " is remarkable.
